Very Much Sleepless in Seattle, Pt. 2

City Slickers

We spent two nights total in Olympic National Park, which was just enough for me. As peaceful as it was, I needed to be in the city and have a few more food options. Luckily, the group I was with was ok with not being in the woods for an entire week and after the second night, we packed up and headed to our next Air BnB in Seattle. To get back to Seattle, we traveled through Bainbridge Island, which is a quaint town with access to the ferry. While there, we had proper fish and chips, did a bit of shopping, and took the ferry across to Seattle for the second half of our trip.

The first Air BnB in Olympic was just right, this next one was good but was right across the street from a high school that has band class starting at 7 am. The location of the Air BnB was pretty good in terms of getting around, there were plenty of coffee shops and restaurants within a mile of the spot. If we wanted to venture out further, we would either Uber or get delivery.

For those who’ve never been to Seattle or the west coast in general, it’s a paradise for authentic Asian cuisine. In general, it has a really good food scene with lots of unique food choices and your typical chains. There are some food types you’d be hard-pressed to find. Soul food/southern cuisine, for instance, I’ve struck out on finding a ton of. If you know of any you want me to try, send them along because I will return in another year or so. Be sure to check out my two-part itinerary for all of the spots. I’ve got an itinerary for the city slicker and the nature lover.

I love a good noodle with some broth, so I highly recommend trying Pho, Ramen, or a Hot pot place while you’re out there. If you’re traveling when the weather is on the chilly side, it will warm you up and fill your belly. If you’re looking for Hot Pot, I highly recommend Morfire. It was great for our group of 6 but can also do the trick if you’re solo. The basics: choose a broth, veggies, and/or proteins. They have a great assortment of side items as well. You’ll be doing your own cooking using the broths so you’re able to choose your doneness.

We walked around the area a bit and had some great ice cream (there were non-dairy versions that suited my fancy) and enjoyed the Seattle night. The hubs and I like to explore, so for this second portion of the trip, we did quite a bit of walking from restaurant, to coffee shop, to bar. Sometimes the group would join us, sometimes it would be just us two love birds.

In my itinerary, I’ll put you on to a speakeasy that serves up custom drinks based on your favorite scents and current mood.

Have any suggestions for places to visit in the Pacific Northwest? Let me know.
